Climb up to the Sümela Monastery

The arches in front of Sümela belonged to a water-supply system: water from springs to the south was distributed through the courtyard fountain and channels. On your ascent, look for the arches and consider the water route that supported daily life on this rocky slope; photograph them from a permitted spot. The museum page carries a partial-closure notice, so confirm the open route before visiting.
