Snow once had a role inside Eşrefoğlu Mosque: the Culture Ministry describes snow from the roof being placed in the central snow pit to provide moisture against drying wooden columns. This historic system no longer operates. One of five wooden mosques inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2023, it invites you to notice the pit and photograph a timber detail where permitted, without disturbing worship.
